The ankle joint or talocrural joint is formed from the articulation between the tibia and fibula and the talus bone. The ankle is a vital joint which is heavily involved in almost all movements in the lower limbs. Therefore any injury or condition at the ankle which requires surgery can be debilitating causing loss of independence, time off from work and down time from sporting activities.
